The Tri Tip goes by a so many different names, and can be described in so many different ways depending on where you are in the world. Fortunately, it is easy to recognize because of its distinctive triangular shape. It is cut from the end of the Rump.

The Tri Tip makes a lovely roasting joint for two people.
